You can open VST3 files with various DAWs, such as Steinberg Cubase and Image-Line FL Studio.On MaSteinberg released v3.6.7 of their VST3 SDK. VST files were used to store plugins saved in the VST and VST 2 standards. VST3 files were introduced when the VST 3 plugin standard was released by Steinberg in 2008. So far a VST3 version of the reason Rack plugin is scheduled for September, an AU version is promised before the end of 2019 and Reason 11 brings a slew of new features but one stands out above all the others - the Reason Rack Plug-in, which allows the rack devices in reason to be run in a host DAW. VST 2.4 plug-ins used to have a fixed number of inputs and outputs, but that’s no longer the case - VST3 plug-ins have the potential to adapt to the channel configuration into which they’re inserted. The VST3 SDK is free technology that is available to any developer.
